We all fidget. Some of us more than others, but we'd wager that you'd be hard pressed to find an individual who didn't engage in fidgeting once or twice during a boring or stressful situation. From chewing your gum a little bit more enthusiastically than usual to twirling or clicking a pen in sequence, these are all fidgeting behaviors and we engage in them to help us get through the task at hand.
Small fidgets help with focus by giving hands or mouths a job to complete; this improves focus and concentration while also relieving negative feelings such as anxiety.
Our focus fidgets for kids and adults include a range of puzzles, colors, interesting textures, unique shapes and more. That's because in the world of sensory processing disorders, fidgets are more than a way to pass the time. A fidget should provide a desired sensory experience, oftentimes a feel, smell or sight.
Let them feel their way through squishy and bendy items, rough bumpy surfaces, tickly and stretchy textures or smooth and cold pieces. Give them a chance to examine each curve and color closely, choosing light-up fidgets for those who really crave that visual sensory input. Our fidgets don't contain chemicals like BPA, so they're great for mouth explorers; we know that it can be a challenge to find safe items for kids with allergies so we take great care to select items that are ideal for everyone. Ask us if you need additional information. Our selection of fidgets was curated with a wide range of kids and adults in mind and, as is the case with most of the items you'll find here online, have various uses that go beyond fidgeting. Use these items to pique kids' behavior in the classroom or during OT to encourage fine motor skills, tracking, sorting, and more. Get a fidget toy for work or school, or grab a handful to create a unique sensory experience. Not sure where to start? Why not try a fidget bag?
